Dear Lord, That Edwards Sex Tape is Real

From the Washington Post:

The sordid saga of John Edwards just got messier: The disgraced politician’s former mistress, Rielle Hunter, has taken legal action to retrieve a “very private and personal” videotape from former Edwards aide Andrew Young, according to court documents obtained by the Associated Press.

“In or about September 2006, using my video camera, I authored a personal video recording that depicted matters of a very private and personal nature,” Hunter wrote in an affidavit filed Thursday in North Carolina. “In 2006, I was also having an intimate relationship with Edwards.” Hunter says she tried to destroy the video a few months later — by pulling the tape out of the cassette — and stored it in a box with personal belongings.

In Young’s cringe-inducing campaign tell-all “The Politician,” in bookstores on Saturday, he claims to have found a damaged tape marked “special” in a box of trash while cleaning out a house he had rented for Hunter. After re-spooling the tape, he watched it . . . only to find Edwards and a “visibly pregnant” woman, who wore jewelry identical to things Hunter would typically wear, doing something explicit.

It remains unclear if Hunter’s 2006 tape is the same one that Young claims to have found. Young admits the pregnant woman’s face is never visible in the tape. Furthermore, Hunter gave birth to her and Edwards’s daughter, Frances Quinn, more than a year after she says her 2006 “private” video was made.

When court-ordered deputies went to Young’s home to recover Hunter’s items, Young’s attorney told them he could not immediately turn over the tape. Hunter has also filed a lawsuit against Young and his wife, seeking a jury trial and damages for invasion of privacy.

Edwards and his wife Elizabeth recently separated.

John Edwards: Slimeball

Truthfully, this paragraph can’t get enough play against the “Breck Girl” if you ask me.

Hell may be too kind a place for him. (Via the New York Times)

In the proposal, which The New York Times examined, Mr. Young asserts that he assisted the affair by setting up private meetings between Mr. Edwards and Ms. Hunter. He wrote that Mr. Edwards once calmed an anxious Ms. Hunter by promising her that after his wife died, he would marry her in a rooftop ceremony in New York with an appearance by the Dave Matthews Band.

My thoughts to Mrs. Edwards for obvious reasons, and the the Dave Matthews Band for getting dragged into this.

Man, is the Washington Post Sad

No story online whatsoever (at least I can find) on the fact John Edwards has finally admitted he’s the father of his illegitimate child.

Ah well, here’s the story from the local station in Raleigh, NC.

Sources have told WRAL News that they expect former U.S. Sen. John Edwards to admit that he is the father of his former mistress’ 18-month-old daughter.

Edwards, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, confessed last August to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, who served as a videographer on Edwards’ 2008 campaign. He has denied fathering her daughter, saying his relationship with Hunter ended before the child was conceived.

The name of the girl’s father isn’t disclosed on her birth certificate.

Andrew Young, a long-time Edwards aide, initially claimed to be the father of Hunter’s child, but he is reportedly writing a book in which he will claim Edwards is the father.

A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards’ campaign funds were illegally paid to Hunter to keep quiet about the affair.

Team Edwards’ “Operation Doomsday”

Wow.

You just never know what may happen in American politics some days I suppose.

Members of former Sen. John Edwards’ presidential campaign reportedly devised a “doomsday” strategy over his affair with Rielle Hunter in which they would destroy his bid for office.

Several unnamed former campaign officials said they had prepared a plan in which they would sabotage Edwards’ campaign if it appeared he would secure the Democratic nomination, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos reported on Sunday.

“They were Democrats first, and if it looked like Edwards was going to become the nominee, they were going to bring down the campaign — they were going to blow it up,” Stephanopoulos said.

The strategy was apparently put together in secret in December 2007 after months of denying rumors that Edwards was having an affair with a woman and had also fathered a child with her.
