250 Protest Kagen for “No” Vote on Health Care Bill

Just breaking from the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

About 250 people protested against Congress passing a health care bill Wednesday outside the offices of U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen, D-Appleton.

The Fox Valley Initiative, a conservative Tea Party group, organized the event. Protesters held signs that read “Kill the Bill” and “Stop the Plantation Politics” on the corner of Walnut and Quincy streets. They also signed yellow sheets of paper and taped them on the building’s front door and windows.

Founder Jim Steineke said he supports health care reform but the government is going about it the wrong way.

I'm not sure what's more impressive; that they got this many people on a Wednesday night -- St. Patrick's Day to boot given the Wisconsin tradition; hell, the Green Bay tradition, of drinking -- or that it's roughly five times more than Organizing for America got in Appleton on a Saturday.

Five times the effort over the Democrats...can't wait to see what happens in November.

  • They only had 50 people at that OFA event?
  • Some media had the number at 50. Some had it at 75. WLUK had it at 100 when they talked about tonight's Walnut St. protest.
