Tom the Homer (Or "All That's Missing is ESPN's Andy Katz")

Have to admit, putting UW in the National Championship Game -- especially after that piss-poor showing in the Big Ten tourney -- is either ballsy or stupid (probably both). But the best part (read: laugh) is having UW take on Marquette to get into...THE FINAL FOUR!

Hey, I'm sure others have done it in Wisconsin, and it could happen.  But I keep thinking if Walker or Neumann did this, Liebmann and Liebenthal would be all over them.

Oh, and the bracket itself is nothing to write home about.  With the exception of what he's done with UW and Marquette in the East Regional, the bracket's pretty much "chalk."

It's pretty much what Obama did last year; and like Obama, Barrett's campaign put the entire thing on video.  Makes you wonder how many other over-played Obama Campaign tactics we'll be seeing this year.

Obey's Earmark Moratorium Won't Stop Spending; or Fraud

Really good article in the Hill from this past Saturday which points out the Democrats "Earmark Freeze," which says that only "for-profit organizations" will be unable to receive earmarks won't do a thing to cut out spending, waste ,or fraud.  The problem with this line in the sand is that most earmarks from the federal government are nothing more than transfer payments to other governmental entities.  Transportation pork, will still go on.  University pork, will still go on.  Pork to Indian tribes, will still go on.

What does that mean?  Well, the following scandals or infamous earmarks would still happen: The Bridge to Nowhere, the Airport for No One, The Jack Abramoff Scandal, and John Murtha's PMA Scandal; which is still being investigated.

This is a classic half-measure; hell it might be better to call it a quarter-measure.

Democrats Losing Blue-Collar Support Over Economy

Once upon a time, Stan Greenberg (and James Carville) used to look at his polling and imagine "Why Not?"  Now, it appears he can only look at them and ask, "What happened?

  • No, for a couple of reasons. One, I don't follow basketball, college or pro. Secondly, I would expect Walker to go with Ohio, like he does for his website. Or Illinois, like he does for his "special" fund raisers. I don't think Neumann even knows what a basketball is or what state he is in.
  • You are aware that the Barrett website was made in Boston, right?
  • But Barrett's lunch bags are made in Wisconsin (or I hope). Maybe Walker's lunch bags are from the Capital Grille in D.C.?

There's a Cap Grille in Milwaukee too; it's a chain (learned that from the Asian Badger at a Drinking Right). Though seriously, it took you over a day to come up with that comeback?

Pathetic. What's next? He's not recycling his brown bags? He's using brown bags at all, and not using a cooler or reusable lunch bag like a 4th grader?
