Terri McCormick to Likely Enter WI-08 GOP Primary

And this makes six...

Terri McCormick, who lost a Republican primary for the 8th District Congressional seat in 2006, has become the sixth Republican to enter the race to challenge U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen.

McCormick, who represented the 57th District in the State Assembly for six years, announced her intentions in a note to supporters Wednesday.

She has scheduled announcement receptions for Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the former Rock Gardens Club/Club 1951 at 1951 Bond St., Green Bay, and from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fox Banquets, 111 E. Kimball St. in Appleton.

She joins a crowded Republic field to challenge Kagen, D-Appleton, a physician who is serving his second term.

McCormick lost the 2006 GOP primary to former Assembly Speaker John Gard, who was defeated that fall and in 2008 by Kagen.

Other announced Republicans are Howard physician Marc Trager; Reid Ribble, 53, a Kaukauna roofing contractor; Marc Savard, 47, an organic farmer and Door County Board member; Andy Williams, 41, a lawyer and Brown County Board member; and Kerry Thomas, 44, of Sayner in Vilas County.

Okay, given everything I've heard, been told, and seen about this woman in the past, I'm going to keep all post-news story comments to a minimum.

Frankly, I just hope she can get all of her old campaign staffers off the Kagen payroll by next summer.

And to highlight she's still not fuming over what happened in 2006, I'll highlight this video which McCormick herself made recently someone was nice enough to forward to me (along with the note sent by her supporters).  The video gets about an 8.5 out of 10 on the creepy meter.

Where was WisconsinEye when you needed it to highlight the oddity that is this woman?

Come on, you mean her campaign staffers went to work for Kagen?
Your pulling my leg! She is a republican and her staffers went left?

Looks like she has a ax to grind with a whole lot of folks. Hell has no fury like a woman scorned.

I think I will also reserve comment.

Can you tell me what aisle the Reynolds aluminum foil is in?

To say she took what she says happened to her in the GOP Primary in 2006
    well is a joke.

As for her staffers, I was informed in late 2006, some of her staffers and
volunteers went to go help Kagen beat Gard while working for the Green
    campaign.

The level of vitriol which existed between her campaign and the Gard
campaign was very high. The Gard campaign pretty much ignored Terri during
the primary focusing instead on the general elections. In retrospect, the
NRCC should have stayed out of the race until after the primary; gave the
impression they were 'annointing Gard,' which I've never thought was going
    on.

Gard was raising nearly $150,000 a quarter before McCormick even announced
    she was running.

mcCormick was rightfully unhappy at the 06 race, Gard lost, all of her supporters backed him as I did but the GOP chose to ignore the constituion that ken clasen and I wrote barring interference in congressinal primaries.
That interference cost us that seat.
    they have learned this time.
Seems doubtful to me that a carpetbagging lobbyist can beat Kagen.

Dumb comment, she is the best chance to win this race.

Jerry Bader announced this on his talk show at least a month ago, maybe longer. She has a book that she promoting and contacted him and her run for the 8th came up again. McCormick is a very bitter woman and so are her supporters. What's going to happen this time if/when she doesn't win again. Her supporters are so bitter that they wouldn't support Gard in '06 and again in '08. They would go to Republican functions but when it came to supporting the candidate they refused. I read yesterday that the NRC is giving support to "Reed the Roofer". How's that going to sit with our little princess. Seems to me that's what pissed her off in '06, Gard got the support and she didn't. It will be fun to watch her twist in the wind again.
  • I am really hoping for karaoke at her announcement.
  • Apparently I need to learn rule #1 of blogging - speed. I emailed McCormick last weekend and got what was clearly a prepared response that sure gave me the impression she was running. I suspect it was what she sent to supporters yesterday, but don't know for sure.

Well, at least I got my post up last night, but obviously I should have done it right away. Next time.
