News Even Atheists Will Praise God For

Jon and Kate will end in November on TLC. Now, with those eight kids off of TV, can we bring in the CPS folks and get them away from their parents?

Our long national nightmare is finally over.

“Jon & Kate Plus 8,” which in recent months had become just about as fun as reliving your parents’ divorce, will stop filming new episodes next month, according to the New York Post.

After Jon Gosselin, 32, forbade TLC from filming his and 34-year-old estranged wife Kate’s eight children for their show, the network will try to squeeze out a couple remaining episodes from existing footage before putting the show to rest, according to sources.

Kate, who’s previously said she relies on the show for her income, and who says the kids have been crying since the film crews left, hasn’t commented. Neither has Jon, who said he put the kibosh on the show because had an epiphany about the harm the show was causing the family – and not because he’d been axed from a future version of the show to be called “Kate Plus 8.”

In related news, TLC has filed a breach of contract suit with Jon Gosselin, saying he was appearing on unapproved, paid media without the networks permission.  They also charge he has released confidential information on these media appearances (such as the fact he and Kate are paid a salary to do the show).

Truth to told, I never watched "Jon & Kate."  My only run-ins with the program were when I'd visit my brother in Sheboygan where he, his wife, and their four kids would watch it because I swear my sister-in-law is addicted to TLC.  I figured much of the show was bull pretty quickly when I turned to my brother -- who grew up in the same household of 11 children I did -- and said, "How are they paying for this all?"

My sister-in-law then gave me the TLC-fed line about Jon being a 'computer programmer' and how a lot of the show is about them worrying about money and Kate being 'really organized to the point you think she's got OCD.'

I just shook my head at that, muttered something I hoped my three nieces and one nephew couldn't hear, and was amazed TLC was able to sell such a falsehood as the truth.

Wow Kevin, I didn't realize there was someone else within 10 years of me who grew up in a household of 11 children.

And thanks for the news on the demise of that show...it's good to know the world is becoming a better place.
