LeMahieu Changes from Assembly Run to Senate Run

All in all a good move.  Was not utterly impressed with the folks I was seeing as potential candidates for the GOP from Manitowoc.  Heard some nice things about Jill Hennessy, but Barry Nelson should opt for city council instead of state office to get some experience.

Losing primaries (lost to Paul Tittl in 2012) only makes you more like Mark Neumann, not anything close to a “citizen legislator.”

Sheboygan County Supervisor and Oostburg Republican Devin LeMahieu announced Tuesday that he’s dropping his state Assembly bid and will instead run to replace outgoing state Sen. Joe Leibham, who represents the 9th Senate District.

“We need a strong conservative candidate to represent the citizens in the 9th District,” LeMahieu said in a prepared statement. “This Senate race is vitally important in helping Gov. Walker to continue moving Wisconsin forward.”

The move marks a change in direction for LeMahieu, who in March announced his candidacy for the 26th Assembly District to replace two-term Sheboygan Rep. Mike Endsley, who’s not seeking re-election.

And now the bad news…

With LeMahieu now out of the Assembly race, that leaves perennial candidate Job Hou-Seye as the only Republican seeking Endlsely’s seat.

I have nearly a quarter of a century of government experience including working with the US Department of Defense DoJ and State Department. I was the Army’s top paralegal instructor at the University of Virginia. I have spent many year with Army prosecutors (the civilian equivalent to the DA’s office) and have a vast back ground in diplomacy and law.

Helping advance human rights in Bangladesh, helping reduce conflict between judges and police in the Philippines, building strong communities in Panama and coordinating with dozens of embassies so that troop movements across Africa and Europe can occur is a solid background.

Since retiring less than 2 years ago I have been a entrepreneur putting my business degree to good use. With my wife we own a half a dozen properties, have been nominated by the Manitowoc County Chamber of Commerce for Small Business of the Year and Spirit of Cooperation Award. We have been nominated by the Manitowoc County EDC for their Rising Star Award and Economic Accelerator Award.

Many voters may not yet know me like this writer. I look forward to meeting them and my neighbors throughout the 9th District.

It would be an honor to continue serving them in Madison as their Senator.

    Mr. Nelson,

Trust me when I say I meant no disrespect. My overall point is that this is now the second office you’re seeking which seems to be out of your level of experience. If you’re serious about public service, by all means run for county board, Manitowoc City Council or something else and work your way up and earn the respect, fellowship and support of the community.

That’s all I’m saying. Food for thought and something to consider.

    Barry
Look back and see where Kevin told reince preibus to not run for state senate cause he needed to run for local office first!
    Or
Paul Ryan who never ran for office before running for congress:)
Kevin is well known to bend the facts to make his argument!
Why the call him bull$hit binversie:)

  • Funny, I could have sworn I didn’t have this blog in 1998 when Paul Ryan ran for Congress…

Or didn’t comment in 2004 when Reince ran for state Senate. Please, by all means keep this up and I block your IP from ever commenting on this blog again.

No offense taken. When the US Ambassador to the Philippines and Bangladesh take the time to send cables back to the United States saying what a great job I did and generals in the Pentagon ask me to come visit them to talk about projects I’m feeling pretty good about my experience and performance.
