Now…Where Was I?

Greetings and welcome to the third incarnation of Lakeshore Laments.  As usual, I am Kevin Binversie, your gracious host and cruise director.  There of course will be some changes from the previous versions of the blog.

The first is that all comments will now run through Word Press not Haloscan as I've done in the past.  In the past two years, Word Press has finally got its act together on comments and it is much better than it was in April of 2007 when I closed these doors at the time.  This also means I will be moderating most, if not all of the comments.  So unless you're a spammer, I'm sure to let 99.9% of them through, only the most obnoxious and vile (read: devoid of logic and full of obscenities) will miss the cut.

So please feel free to comment, just remember to give a valid log-in when you do.

Secondly, you'll notice Kurt will no longer be my partner in crime here.  As I was in the process getting the blog up and running I did ask him if he wished to contribute, but he declined.  He's always got an invite to put in his two cents whenever he wants.

Third, you'll notice I've added some new categories to my blog posts.  Most of them are self-explanatory while others like the new "Technorgasm" for example, will be me pretty much mocking all the folks who get their jollies off on all the 'really cool, really awesome' technology out there.  Technology is great, nice and (allegedly) makes like easier, but it is like everything else in life - One winner, one pretender to the throne, and a whole bunch of losers.

Then there's "The People's Party," which will be highlighting how full of hypocrits the Democratic Party is with their often undemocratic tactics, silencing of critics, and closed-door tactics on all levels of government.

Finally, you'll notice I've added a few things such as my standing Twitter status. (Follow me on Twitter here.)   There might be a few more widgets I'll be adding to the blog, most of them involving sports teams I like.  Feel free to also take a look at the "About" pages which has my standard contact information if you wish to contact me, and if you're new to this blog and me, take a look at the "Newbies" page where it gives a refresher on many of the phrases and vernacular I've used in the past in the blog.  There's a link to both at the bottom of the page.

Let me also thank Sean Hackbarth, of The American Mind, at this time who acted as the behind-the-scenes techie to help me get this thing off the ground in time for today.  It's simply amazing what that boy will do if you offer him a Leinie's Red.

Also, expect some news here as I finalize some other things in both my professional life and blogging life.  My gut is telling me to expect big news in both very soon.
